Swimming, diving, having fun in the pool are some of the best joys of summer. But the chlorine in the water can unfortunately pose minor inconveniences.
The eyes are obviously getting affected! It is indeed common to get out of the swimming pool with red, itchy and tearing eyes.
What are the reasons for that ?
It is the chloramines in swimming pool water that cause eye irritation. The latter appear by the reaction of chlorine with the ammonia present in the sweat of swimmers.
Most often not serious, chemical conjunctivitis can be a consequence in some cases.
To avoid this type of complication, just take a few simple steps:
- Wear swimming goggles,
- Rinse your eyes with clean water,
- Use saline solutio or eye drops..
